https://corporate.walmart.comWalmart, Inc is the largest chain of consumer goods stores. The first store was opened in 1962 in Arkansas, USA. Sam Walton, the owner of the future global giant, began working in this area as a franchise back in 1945 and by the early 1960s he offered its owner a new format of retail outlets: large centers with low, almost wholesale, prices. Unable to find support, Walton opened his first store, and by the end of the 1960s there were already 18 of them.
Now the network includes more than 10,000 stores in 24 countries. The main market remains the US market, but it is also actively developing in Mexico, Canada, South Africa and Asian countries, working directly or through subsidiaries. The parent corporation also owns a number of other companies, for example, the Sam's Club chain of wholesale stores.
